Horticulture Workforce Development

The pilot phase of the horticulture program will require $40,000. During the first six months, we will work with four participants to test and refine the curriculum, mentorship model, and support systems that make this program effective.

This initial funding will cover participant stipends, and basic insurance. All other costs of the program such as instruction, transportation and support services are being donated as in-kind donations from community partners. Just as importantly, the pilot allows us to learn what works, make improvements, and build a strong foundation for future cohorts.

Your donation helps launch this program at a manageable scale, ensuring participants receive high-quality education and support while allowing us to responsibly grow the program over time. This is an investment in people, in learning, and in a model we plan to expand to serve many more participants in the future.

Swannanoa Gardens

We are starting the second year of growing in the Community Gardens in Swannanoa. We learned a great deal in the first year. We have some needs in order to expand our capacity and respond to struggles we faced last year. Many of our needs could be donated as in-kind donations. Money donated will be used to purchase needed supplies. If you would like to discuss donating something specific, please fill out the contact form and we will get in touch.

How are donations used?

Contributions to World of Abundance, Inc. support community gardens and workforce development programming serving individuals experiencing food insecurity and housing instability. Donors may indicate a preference for a specific program area. The Organization will make reasonable efforts to use funds consistent with that preference. However, in accordance with nonprofit governance standards and IRS regulations, all donations are subject to the ultimate authority and discretion of the Board of Directors and must be used in furtherance of the Organization’s charitable purposes. The Organization does not accept donations earmarked for specific individuals.
