Why I Serve
I serve on the board of World of Abundance because I believe communities are strongest when people take care of one another. After Hurricane Helene, I saw firsthand how quickly access to food disappeared in Swannanoa—and how deeply that loss affected people who were already struggling.
I’ve spent my life gardening in this valley, and I know what the land can produce when it’s cared for properly. Being part of this work allows me to use my experience, my relationships, and my roots in this community to help restore access to food, dignity, and hope. This isn’t just about growing vegetables—it’s about rebuilding resilience and making sure no one is left behind.
